History Learned – Your Mostly Daily Mostly Astros Links

Do you know who wants links on the weekend?  No one.  No one wants links on the weekend.  You may THINK you want links on the weekend, but really, you don’t.  I promise.  How do I know this?  Because I don’t want to MAKE links on the weekend.  And if I don’t want to make something, it’s because you don’t actually want it.  Like Apple.  Your preferences are dictated.

The Basics: (How do you guys feel about the colored text separating link sections? Good? Bad? Let me know in the comments.  THAT’S WHAT WE CALL A HOOK, BABY)

This is the learned (pronounced learn-ed) Astros blog, and we use statistics.  You know who provides statistics? Fangraphs.  Here’s a list of the top 5 fringe prospects.  There are Astros!

Speaking (writing?) of prospects, our friendly co-blogger over at Astros Future provided a nice weekly recap of our top prospects!

Did you notice how I didn’t start with a recap this time?  Time for the downer news of the day.  The Astros played a real team for the first time in a week, and the bats promptly went silent.  When you lose, you don’t get the home town recap.  You get the recap from a paper 400 miles north of your opponent.  If we lose a playoff series with all of our pitchers acting like Randy Johnson I’ll go crazy.  Panic Battalion? What’s that?

On a positive note, at least the Astros were feeling good going into the series.  So they’ve got that going for them, which is nice.

Time for my choice of links!

Barbara Bush passed away and her funeral service was held Saturday.    She was married to former President George W Bush for 73 years, and had a legacy of her own..  With his wife gone former President Bush has taken a turn for the worse and is now in intensive care.  Recovery may be in the offing as he is responding well to treatment.

Want some good news?  The Rockets blew the doors off of the Timberwolves.  A 50 point 3rd quarter was the highest point total for the Rockets ever.  Playoffs or regular season.  Let’s hope it’s a turning point and that the team has found that rhythm they’ve been so desperately searching for.

Have you ever thought to yourself “This MLB game is in extra innings, let’s just end this so everyone can go home?” If so, then take comfort knowing the umpires are just like you!

Whew!  That was a lot of links!  You’ll probably never get that many links again.  Revel in it.
